Description

GateHouse Media is seeking to hire a Creative Director to lead the efforts on all creative/design projects that enable the corporate consumer marketing team to aggressively grow subscriber acquisitions (print & digital), build design templates and operationalize messaging strategy for customer retention and drive audience engagement. The Creative Director needs to understand a variety of disciplines: art direction, concept planning, timeline management, execution of deliverables and collaborate with stakeholders on post-delivery reporting and analysis. In addition to guiding all design projects, the Creative Director will be responsible for the overall quality of work produced by the creative department. This role will also be responsible for the administration of the internal project management system for the creative group. 

This position will report to the VP, Acquisition – but also work closely with the Corporate Marketing Operations and Customer Experience groups. The Creative Director will be responsible for the hiring, development and management of the creative team. **This position is based in our Columbus office. Local candidates will be given first preference**

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the creative process from concept to completion
  • Translate consumer marketing objectives into clear creative strategies
  • Maintain working relationships with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders
  • Lead and direct the creative team in the production of all marketing collateral (print & digital)
  • Ensure visual communication and brand standards are met
  • Ensure deadlines are met throughout the course of the project
  • Assign, track and report on design services requested by multiple stakeholders
  • Review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative teams
  • Remain actively involved in hiring and training creative staff
  • Manage outside vendors and contractors to ensure project requirements are being met

 

Experience & Requirements

  • 6+ years of proven management and design experience; Ad Agency background preferred
  • Strong understanding of industry trends and creative tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong grasp of web & mobile responsive design
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3, AngularJS, HTML DOM
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively communicate project status on a regular basis to stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate direct reports
  • Willingness to travel domestically 10-20% of the time
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
