GateHouse Media has established its Center for News & Design in the growing and vibrant community of Austin, Texas. The center is part of a long-term effort to offer a range of content services to GateHouse newspapers and market those services to other media entities. The plan incorporates both print and digital components, in addition to new platforms we plan to develop.
 
We are building a team of quality journalists who can produce accurate, complete and compelling content for GateHouse Media’s print and digital publications across the country. 
 
Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply, as well as those with limited professional experience.
 
The content producer’s duties include:
  • Sorting, writing and posting stories, briefs and calendar items for various GateHouse community websites
  • Cultivating positive and productive relationships with local editors across the country to continually improve our publications
  • Being responsive to feedback from center managers and local editors
  • Producing content in a timely manner that’s error-free and comprehensive
  • Working with local editors to achieve daily content goals
  • Helping the community content manager improve team productivity and workflow, as well as troubleshooting technology and process challenges
  • Assisting other content producers in completion of their assignments
  • Copy-editing stories before presenting them to the manager for approval
 
The content producer must:
  • Be able to write stories using AP style or other guidelines established by GateHouse Media and its local publications
  • Become proficient in GateHouse Media’s centralized content-management system
  • Be a true multitasker, able to work swiftly and adjust easily to changing priorities
  • Be a true team player, able to maintain a positive and energetic work environment while interacting with dozens of colleagues and helping to build team morale
  • Have proven reporting, writing and line-editing skills
  • Have experience with digital publishing
