The Center for News and Design, Gatehouse Media LLC is currently seeking a Manager of Digital Development Operations| Mobile in Austin, Texas. Individual will be the guiding technical manager of all native application platforms, including news applications and consumer marketing and revenue integrations and new products.
Key Accountabilities:
Supports the General Manager | Mobile in prioritizing product development, including enhancements to existing native applications and launching of new products.
Supports the General Manager | Mobile and the Director of Digital Development Operations in making GateHouse’s digital presence cutting edge in the local news business.
Participates in product planning with project managers, product managers, business intelligence analysts and UI/UX designers to develop technical specifications.
Manages the development process with GHM digital team, mobile team and mobile development teams.
Supports app store and property management.
As needed to support native-app needs, assists in managing the Gatehouse web environment, templates, code structure, hosting environment, system architecture, and vendor implementations.

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field from an accredited college or university. Advanced training is a plus.
A passion for mobile UX/design and development is essential.
Desire to quickly digest and initiate development projects for emerging technology platforms.
Spreadsheet ninja. 
Excellent organizational, communications (oral and written) and presentation skills. 
Demonstrated ability to manage the native mobile software development lifecycle for Android and iOS, including familiarity with Swift/Java and related development/build tools.
At least 5 years of development experience, preferably with CMS-driven applications.
Must be confident translating product requirements into technical specifications (flowchart/pseudocode) for development.
Ability to review source-code commits and participate in the debugging/QA process.
Experience in modern build/release patterns including rapid prototyping, iterative/continuous product development, shared code bases, automated testing, and distributed development teams.
Working knowledge of Swift/C++ and Java and associated IDEs and development practices.
Familiarity with distributed version control (GIT) and able to implement best practices.
Comfortable with basic web technologies including HTML, Javascript and PHP. Familiar with more advanced techniques including AJAX/JSON.
Familiar with REST APIs for content delivery and product integrations like Facebook and YouTube.
Basic understanding of backend databases (SQL) and emerging approaches to data storage like Elasticsearch and noSQL.
Understanding of foundational internet technology like DNS.
Knowledge of ad sales and trafficking systems, ad server integration (DFP), and related technical & business processes.
Experience with newspapers/publishing industry and large-scale implementation of technical products.
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and variable schedules as necessary.  Must be willing to travel. Must be qualified to work in the U.S. and Austin, Texas.
