The Columbus Dispatch is looking for an inside sales superstar to join their team!

This position focuses on developing new revenues from new advertisers and growing revenue from existing advertisers.  This role builds profitable advertising accounts with new and existing advertisers to which they offer multiple media advertising solutions to achieve targeted, profitable revenue.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB: Selling daily classified, retail and online advertising to active/non-active and new businesses, using verbal and written skills over the telephone and at the counter.
 
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Maintain and Grow Profitable Revenues within Existing Business
  • Achieve targeted revenue projections
  • Acquire knowledge of customer needs through needs assessments
  • Create new ideas for customer business growth
  • Formulate multi-media recommendations that connect solutions to advertiser’s needs
  • Collaborate with creative team in designing creative campaigns/ads
  • Provide good customer service & follow through to maintain existing business to sustain long-term relationships
  • Competitively position and demonstrate the value of our multi-media
Development
  • Participate in identified development/assignment activities such as company sponsored learning initiatives
  • Apply new knowledge, understanding or skill to practical use on the job
Planning/Administrative
  • Understand advertisers’ business cycles
  • Prepare target lists for selling opportunities
  • Manage contracts status for upcoming expiring contracts
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures as outlined in company handbook
  • Manage multiple priorities across a variety of programs
 
MINIMUM STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
The standards describe an acceptable level of performance
  • Achieve sales goals per period, per product and/or sales initiative.
  • Minimize adjustments due to errors or billing, to no more than 2% of total revenue per period.
  • Utilize sales tools including creative services, presentation templates, and research to support and enhance sales recommendations.
  • Meet deadlines for production, credit and customer requests as well as adhering to all company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent courses
  • 2 yr proven track record of proven results
  • Advertising or marketing industry experience is ideal.
