Description
GateHouse Media has an immediate opening for a seasoned Publisher.  The Publisher is responsible for operational, strategic and financial success of the assigned publication(s) and for establishing a culture of success and achieving operational and financial results. This is accomplished in part through effective change leadership within a highly consolidated and matrix organizational structure, a strong customer-first focus and by having a firm understanding of the changing digital-media landscape and the opportunities and impacts to our business. The successful Publisher will hire and hold employees accountable for business results and key performance indicator achievement. The four key responsibility areas are leadership, selecting and developing people, building engaging and relevant products and managing the growth of core and new revenue streams.

LEADERSHIP
  • Leadership of the organization and setting the strategic vision

PRODUCT & CONTENT
  • Build sustainable value propositions for subscriptions and advertising revenue
  • Develop consumer driven, multi-platform products to grow audience and engagement
  • Ensure audience development and subscriber retention strategy is active and aligned with advertiser priorities
  • Develop and enhance digital products to grow revenue and strengthen the market footprint
  • Build strategic partnerships that improve position in the marketplace and drive results
PROFIT – MANAGING FOR RESULTS
  • Ensure achievement of financial objectives, including revenue, expense and operating profit for all sites of responsibility /oversight
  • Monitor and require adherence to GateHouse’s financial guidelines, policies and procedures

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business preferred; or equivalent work experience in media related business.
  • Minimum of five years and demonstrated success in a top leadership role
  • Experience working in industries undergoing substantial change and transformation; demonstrating a successful turnaround or transformation highly desirable
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing top line revenue
  • Demonstrated track record in recruiting a world-class leadership team highly desirable
  • A history of successful leadership, innovation and goal achievement
  • Candidates with a demonstrated history of creating growth and building market share are preferred.
